I would be happy to volunteer again all day on race day. If it involves marshalling again I would be happoy to attend the course. Otherwise I would be happy to work at the finish or where wanted

Challenge Henley was a great event, with fantastic support. Swimming on the Henley Regatta course was spectacular.

Two Challenge Wanaka age group champions were in the field. Garth Barfoot, inaugural 70-79 winner in 2007 at Wanaka and a competitor in every event since, finished the swim and bike at Henley, and three out of four laps on the run. He was game for the fourth, but was pulled by the organizers because of the lateness of the hour (past 10pm).

John Smart, winner in the 60-69 age group at Wanaka in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2010 (and second 50-59 in 2007) won the 60-64 age group in Henley with a 13:43, as well as honours as oldest finisher.

It was a tough day, with cold temperatures and rain on and off throughout. But lots of happy faces and great organization. Thank you!
